Trouble

The upside of having a mate trained in mixed martial arts who made his living as a cage fighter was he looked like a genuine god. The downside? He easily blocked my attempted punches, his hazel eyes twinkling as I nearly lost my balance.

“Ready to admit defeat, my Diamond?”

I bared my teeth. “You wish, Adonis.”

Jules laughed, throwing a concise, powerful hit that I just barely managed to twist out of the path of. I loved fighting, loved sparring like this, and against most other people I could hold my own. But Jules was superhuman, obsessed with training, and very few people could beat him. Even his opponents couldn’t defeat him; I was pretty sure he’d been unbeaten for seven months now. Except for that one time I knocked him on his ass, which took hours to accomplish.

He snorted, scanning my body as I adjusted my fists, watching his every minute movement as he watched mine. “I do wish,” he agreed, his eyes going dark and smoky. “I love it when you surrender, Trouble.”

I swallowed, distracted for a split second, long enough for Jules to grab both my wrists in his hands and pull me against his body, trapping me. “Playing dirty now, Julian?” I narrowed my eyes. “Really?”

“I’m not above being dirty,” he replied, his eyes darting to my lips. “And you’ve stopped really fighting ever since your fox and dragon left. You were putting on a show for them, weren’t you?”

I made a sound in my throat. He wasn’t wrong, though. I’d wanted to impress Az and Clairmont, so I’d given my all to dodging Jules’s blows and getting my own hits in. But after an hour, I was drained and ready for a nap. Short, hard fights like the one with Bodyguard and Doorman when they cornered me in my cell were fine, but slow executions like fighting Jules? Exhausting.

“I’m hurt, my Diamond, truly,” he said, his lips at my ear. “Why aren’t you putting on a show for me?”

“Because you make it impossible to fight you. And not everyone has your damn stamina.”

He drew back. Slowly raised an eyebrow. Suggestive as hell. “If memory serves, you don’t have personal experience of my stamina, sweetcheeks.”

“Shut it,” I muttered, shoving his chest with my trapped fists. “And stop calling me that.”

“Nope.” he replied cheekily, walking me backwards. I panicked, walking blind, but Jules squeezed my wrists in reassurance and, as much as I wanted to kick him in the balls for that smug look on his face, I trusted him implicitly. So I just glared at his chiselled face and allowed him to guide me across the open space. I gasped when my back met solid brick, and Jules took full advantage of it, our lips meeting and his tongue curling sinfully around mine.

He let go of my wrists so he could squeeze my ass, pulling my hips flush to his as he kissed me deeper, a groan in the back of his throat. I sank my fingers into
